Character

Mary is a successful thirty-six year old woman, living a comfortable life in Germany. From a young age, Mary has always been somewhat ambitious, hard-working, and extremely organized. However, most people would say at times she can be a bit of a control freak, this, however, is part of her job as a clock operator, always making sure the time is always correct. The clock Mary is in charge of is not just any clock, it is the city’s central clock, so every person relies on the time she set’s as being the correct time. When people tell her she’s obsessive she tells them, “I guess you can say that it’s probably a good thing I am obsessive, or else the central clock would not have the correct time.” As clock operator Mary’s job involves her winding the clock twice a day, she say’s, “… this allows for each and every person who relies on the clock to get an accurate indication of the time. I also repeatedly check the clock to make sure there are no problems and that the time is still correct. I see myself as a playing a vital role in the day of others, I fell like I have a very important job, it’s one that I am very proud of.”

Ever since Mary was a child she had always felt a close connection to telling the time. This connection was established on the day of her tenth birthday when her mother, who passed away when she was still a child, gave her a beautiful watch to help her tell the time. Previously, Mary had struggled to learn to tell the time, so the gift was to help her learn and everyday when her mother woke her or tucked her into bed at night, she would ask her to tell the time. Since then there had always been an emotional connection with her job as the clock operator.

Having this job allows Mary to communicate with many people making her one of the city’s most well known people, she is seen as somewhat of a celebrity. Mary has always been a people person, with many friends, who all love her. Unfortunately, although Mary is very outgoing and a nice person, she has found it very hard to find that one special man in her life. Mary has always been very pretty. With a figure of a model, chestnut brown hair and hazel brown eyes, many of her friends wonder why she still has not found the right man. Some say she has the looks of Australian model Megan Gale. Mary has always had a passion for fashion, and especially loves to buy shoes, she always complains about her shoe closet not being big enough to fit all her shoes. Mary is currently looking to buy a new home, something modern and sleek, something that fits her personality. She has always been an admirer of minimalism throughout modern home’s and wishes to carry this out in her new home.
